- Nikola Karabatic, which are your first impressions?
"I am very happy to return to Montpellier. It is a great moment for me. I am happy to see how all the decisional factors mobilised around the club, the city and the region. It is a pleasure to see that there it was so much energy inserted in order that I can come back to the club who formed me. I thank everybody who make this transfer possible. This transfer is the success of a long negociation. Until the last week, nothing was decided. I am very happy to finally know where I will play next season and especially to know that it will be in Montpellier, the club of my debut."
- Why have you chosed Montpellier?
"I had contact to enough clubs: Barcelona, Ciudad Real, Rhein-Neckar Löwen and Kiel. Normally, I would have had to chose Ciudad Real oder Barcelona. But I contacted Montpellier. This club presented the most interesting project in my opinion, it showed the biggest ambition. Montpellier seduced me with its future big hall, with the team created and its dynamic. I don’t forget the affective aspect as well. It is here where my career began. Patrice Canayer (Montpellier’s coach) looked for me in Thau-Handball when I was 16 years old. I feel well in Montpellier, where I multiplicated the stays during the whole season. I am more than happy to be here today and to know that I don’t have to go back to Germany. I will found my brother Luka again and other pals as Micka (Guigou), Doudou (Karaboué), Dogui (Bojinovic). It is a new challenge. A change in the sportlife who does always well. "
- After you have won everything one can win, what does motivate you?
"The desire to win it again. I didn’t come here for holiday, even if the region ist very attractive. I am here to shine at international level and to win Champions League, at least to come in the round of the last four as we succeeded it in 2003 and 2005. I am 25 years old, I am still not at my best. I am a competitor, I am an athlete, I want to win. If I came to Montpellier, it is because I would have the desire to win. And as well to make the cub advance, to make the French sports to progress."
