Kiel didn´t find their rhythm in the first quarter of the game and were all the time down, by 1, 2 goals. The problems in defence were solved when Börge Lund came into the game, replacing Stefan Lövgren. Dominik Klein was the one who brought his team for the very first team in lead due to a fastbreak: 11:10/17. Two minutes later, Nikola got on the field and scored with his first shot for 13:12/20. After Karipidis goal for 13:14, Kiel scored six times in a row, showing a very fast pace. Within three minutes to go from the first half the scoreboard indicated 20:13 for the guests, which got with margin into the dresssing room (23:15).
After the 25:16/34. in the second half, the Zebras missed lots of easy shots and produced also technical mistakes which helped Melsungen to camecloser (27:23/43.) After six minutes without goal and a time out called from Alfred Gislason, Nikola was the one who interrupted the poor period of his squad. The player with the number 22 scored three consecutive goals for 30:23/46. and decided practically the dispute. In the end, THW won 39:32, despite other many shots missed.
"Certainly that we are pleased, we won away. Melsungen has a strong team and it is difficult to win here. We did well, particularly in the last 20 minutes of the first half, when we performed very well. My elbow is not OK, but one mudst play, so is handball, " said Niko after the game for hbl.tv.
