"Nothing happened", screamed the coach Alfred Gislason to his boys at the time-out called after 22 minutes. Kiel was down 7:10 after they got three goals in a row, playing four against six. Indeed, nothing happened. Niko, Filip Jicha, Henrik Lündstrom twice, Kim Andersson and Vid Kavticnik scored 7 consecutive goals without receiving not even one! It was 14:10 within 2 minutes to go from the first half and Gummersbach was shocked. The half break result: 15:12
In the second half, the difference between the two squads became always bigger. Omeyer, who showed some impressive saves in the first half, went on with his show, the defence was an unbreakable wall and allowed Kiel to score easy goals. From 16:13 after 34 minutes the German Champions made 20:13 in their favour within 19 minutes to go. The game was practically decided. The biggest difference was of 10 goals (27:17/53.), after that the old new German Cup winner let their rival to came closer.
