The German Champions started great in the dispute and dominated clearly the first 9 minutes (3:0, 4:1, 6:2), but the hosts fought back and came to one goal (6:7/13). But the Kielers were too experienced and clever to lose the control over the game and scored four consecutive goals (11:7/17.) and soon after extended their lead to eight goals (18:10/28.). At the half time Kiel had a consistent margin in their favour: 21:14.
What the players coached by Alfred Gislason showed in the first ten minutes of the second half was the worst in the whole confrontation. They scored only one goal in ten minutes and got six, so that the scoreboard showed an incredible 22:20 for them! The 1.600 home spectators hoped for a wonder, but it was not the case. Omeyer saved two important shots from the wing position and in attack Vid Kavticnik scored twice for 24:20/42. The sleepy giant woke up and as usually, destroyed the rival´s hopes like a only hurricane does it, extending his advance to 8 goals within 13 minutes to go (29:21). In the end, the Zebras won with 11 goals, 37:26, and they can concentrate now on the game on Saturday.
