THW Kiel - RK Zagreb 31:27. Nikola and his colleagues are in the competition semifinals for the third consecutive time. The ingredients of the victory today: a fantastic performance in the first half, with Omeyer and Klein in the spotlight, the way they kept cool, Omeyer decisive save and important goals from Niko in the second half.
The team coached by Alfred Gislason dominated the first half. Titi Omeyer made again his job in goal, having in front of him a strong defence "improved" by Lund´s comeback, Klein "hit" per fastbreak and from the wing position, while Lövgren served in the most perfect manner Ahlm on the pivot and Jicha bombed from the back position. Nikola came on beginning with the 15th minute, when his squad was in front 8:5, and the difference was extended at 7 goals shortly before the break (17:10). At the half time, the scoreboard "smiled" to the home side: 17:11.
THW controlled the first 7 minutes of the second part (20:14/37.), but Zagreb was not beaten yet. Leaded by the Valcic and Duvnjak, Zagreb came closer to 3 goals (22:19/44., 24:21/51.) and Vukic had a big chance to make two of it on fastbreak. Fortunately for Kiel, Omeyer saved and in countermove Kim Andersson scored for 25:21 within 8 minutes to go. The game was totally under suspense, Lazarov, who performed much better in the second half as in the first one, put his team back to minus three (25:22/52.). It was the phase when Nikola, three goals in the last 7 minutes, showed his class and together with Vid Kavticnik made the difference: 30:25 with one minute to go. In the end was 31:27 for the hosts.
