One of these three teams will be Kiel´s opponent in the quarter final. The draw will take place today, beginning with half past six in the afternoon, in Vienna. The German Champions won their group and they will meet one of the three squads who was second in the other three groups.
Bundesliga dominates the competition, except Kiel, other three German squads reached the round of the last eight: HSV Hamburg, Rhein-Neckar Löwen and SG Flensburg-Handewitt. From Spain only Ciudad Real managed to qualify, while Barcelona, Portland San Antonio and Ademar Leon are all out! The other three tickets for the quarter finals went to Chehovskie Medvedi (Russia), HC Croatia Osiguranje-Zagreb (Croatia) and MKB Veszprém KC (Hungary).
The teams ranked first in their group will meet a second ranked team in the quarter finals. However, they cannot meet the second ranked team of their own group, as for example Kiel can´t play against Ciudad Real. The group winners will play the second leg on home court. The two legs of the round of the last eight will take place on 24th - 29th March (1st leg) and 1st - 5th April (2nd leg).
