06.01.09 - Champions League: Too fast too furios

THW Kiel defeated Metalurg Skopje 37:29 tonight on home soil in their first game of the group C of the competition. The difference was made in the second half, when the Zebras performed much better than in the first.


The hosts needed 9 minutes to get a clear margin of 4 goals (6:2, 8:4, 9:5, 11:7) and extended their lead to 6 goals after 20 minutes, 13:7. The coach Alfred Gislason made more changes and the guests took advantage of the situation and reduced the difference until 3 goals, the same at the break (18:15).
In the second half the things went much better for THW and after 7 minutes they leaded with 8 goals (24:17). The maximum advance was of ten goals (32:22/49, 35:25/56.). In the end the favourites won by eight, 37:29, with Titi Omeyer best player of the game due to his 21 saves.
