"I am pleased despite the defeat. We knew from the beginning that a win here would be impossible", said after the game Melsungen´s coach Robert Hedin. His players were the one in lead in the first 12 minutes in a game where both teams set a fast pace like the scoreboard showed after 30 minutes: 21:16.
Melsungen remained very dangerous in the first minutes of the second half, when they came closer to 24:23 (35.) It was a phase of the match when Kiel´s coach, Alfred Gislason, tried a 5:1 defence, which was not at all successful. He was forced to get a time-out and the things went again into the normal. The German Champions assured themselves a 4 goal margin and extended it to 7 with the final whistle.
