After a perfect start (2:0/3.), everthing turned against the German Champions. Their tactic didn´t function at all, they defended poorly and in attack didn´t have have enough movement in their actions. There were zero assists for the wingers, while the pivot Marcus Ahlm was very well blocked by Lemgo’s excellent defence work. Not even the time-out called by Alfred Gislason after 11 minutes didn´t help, on the contrary Lemgo extended their lead to 12:6 (19.).
The worse came in the 27th minute, when Titi Omeyer got the red card after an argument with Svavarsson. Everything began after Lundström fouled Kehrmann on the wing, who was trying to score. A real disaster for Kiel, left in three field players and with the youngster Morten Michelsen in goal. The young goalie showed a very good performance, he saved two consecutive shots, one from 7m, while Nikola scored a goal and obtained a 7 meter shot. Anyway, there was not more to save for the guests and in the half time they gone with 19:13 against.
The things got even worse in the second half for the German squad number 1. Filip Jicha, who celebrates today his 27th birthday, got an involuntary blow in the chin from a Glandorf on his way to goal and ended in the hospital, but fortunately he is OK. Some minutes earlier, Nikola couldn´t play anymore, his knee made him again problems. Even if the "Kieler" kept on fighting until the end, the match was already lost, but they had all the chances to celebrate the title on Wednesday, with a victory against Wetzlar.
